Land Surveying

Survey CADD Technician

Coleman Company, Inc., one of the fastest growing engineering companies in Savannah, is seeking Survey Technicians for its Savannah, GA office. Coleman Company provides professional consulting services for land development projects specializing in site and municipal engineering design and surveying for light industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential uses.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 2 year of experience preparing plats and survey documents using AutoCAD or similar experience.

Typical Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Ability to work with Trimble survey data collectors.
  • Ability to reduce field notes and prepare office surveys.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematic and trigonometric calculations
  • Prepare plats, drawings, as-built, tree and topographic surveys and exhibits using AutoCAD
  • Perform routine analysis to check accuracy and reasonableness of data
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with field crews and engineers and project managers

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Formal training in a surveying related field is a plus and is desired.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in surveying technology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Must possess high individual moral and ethical character.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting field survey data for various types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, wetland and tree locations, construction layout and similar field work.

Successful candidates will have 3 years of experience working on a survey crew or similar experience.

Typical Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Ability to operate a total station instrument and data collector.
  • Ability to operate a GPS rover.
  • Ability to operate a level and read a level rod.

Professional Land Surveyor

Coleman Company provides professional consulting services for land development projects specializing in site and municipal engineering design and surveying for light industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential uses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the collection of field survey data and the preparations of plats and documents for various types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, wetland and tree locations, construction layout and similar field work.

Successful candidates will have 5+ years of experience in Land Surveying, Subdivision Mapping, Topographic Mapping and writing legal descriptions.

Typical Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manages and coordinates surveys and investigations of land surfaces and prepares Topographic Maps, Boundary Adjustments, Subdivision Maps, Records of Survey and Legal Descriptions
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements including boundary calculations and legal ownership issues
  • Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Acts as advisor to the engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Land Surveying
  • Relies on experience, knowledge, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a highly professional manner
  • Performs a variety of complex tasks relating to Boundary and Topographic Surveying and Mapping
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Leads and directs field survey crews and survey technicians

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying or equivalent education as required for Georgia PLS.
  • Must be a registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Georgia or have the ability to obtain a license within 6 months of employment.

Landscape Architecture & Land Planning

Landscape Architect and Land Planner

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic landscape architect to join the Landscape Architecture group at Coleman Company, bringing a passion for creativity and positive energy to our firm. This person will build strong working relationships with clients and agencies and efficiently coordinate with other design team members to solve design challenges. This individual will work directly with, and in support of, the planners and civil engineers on projects and will be responsible for the creation, documentation, and management of a diverse set of projects including residential single-family subdivisions, multifamily, master planning, hospitality/resort, commercial, industrial, and public works. The individual is also expected to collaborate heavily with the planning, civil engineering, and survey teams and play a role in the marketing and business development for the office.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Georgia Licensed Landscape Architect or ability to obtain within 18 months.
  • Ability to self-perform design work in AutoCAD and graphics programs
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with variety of individuals including clients, consultants, and architects
  • Work cooperatively with city/county planning, public works agencies and staff, neighborhood associations, developers, and others; maintain effective communication and cooperation with and among these partners.
  • Strong design and graphic skills, both digital and hand drawn
  • Strong Client and Project Management skills
  • Ideal candidate must be passionate about working on a variety of projects simultaneously and care about executing drawings at a high-level of quality
  • Plan for, schedule, and perform well under deadlines
  • Ability to assemble planning level concept drawings that are code compliant.
  • Ability to move projects efficiently and expeditiously through Planning and Zoning/City Council approvals.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up, and Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable with both master planning and landscape architecture projects
  • Knowledge of the Public Sector and strong experience with the Private Sector
  • Ability to lead presentations in both public and private settings.  Experience with leading projects through a design review, entitlement or other similar public approval process is highly desired.

Salary Range $80,000 and above (pending experience)

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.
